A report today by the Institute for Public Policy Research says the Formula, which calculates how the devolved nations are financed, is ‘inequitable and could undermine the Union unless reformed’.
Broken down, the report shows that public spending per head in Northern Ireland each year is £5,684. This figure is 21% above the UK average and [...]

Writing in today’s Daily Telegraph former British Army Colonel Tim Collins makes a strong case as to why the detention of terrorist suspects for up to 42 days plays into the hands of our enemies.
Based on his first hand military experience in both Northern Ireland and Iraq Colonel Collins is, unlike [...]

I’m not absolutely sure how he arrived at this conclusion (some dusty corner of the bible, no doubt) but he’s pretty sure on the matter. His [...]

By Bob Wilson - What’s the difference between the Conservative Party and the local parties on Corporation Tax?
They all apparently want lower corporation tax but the crucial difference is that while the DUP, UUP, SDLP and Sinn Fein can whine all they like about Gordon Brown and Sir David Varney - only the Conservatives have [...]

Comment by Jeffrey Peel, Vice Chair, Policy, Conservatives in Northern Ireland

The following statement was posted on ConservativesNI.com today and is indicative of the thinking of supporters of local political Parties. For that reason a response might be appropriate.
“The Democratic Unionists are doing what they believe to be best for Northern Ireland. Someone has to fight our corner. That is why the Conservatives will never come [...]

BBC Newsnight reported last night that the two so-called “main Parties” (everywhere outside of Northern Ireland they are viewed as weird sectarian anachronisms) are pretty much at one when it comes to making demands on the British exchequer. Sinn Fein claims that the “Brits” owe us big time. They are demanding that jobs are “created” [...]
